Crawford County Dairy Breakfast next weekend

The Steger family, Terry, Tim, Char, Jessica and Emily are hosting the Crawford County, Saturday, June 8 Dairy Breakfast from 6 to 10 a.m. at 60724 Irish Ridge, Prairie du Chien.

Tim and Terry are third generation Crawford County dairy farmers. They started farming in 1980 with their father, Louis.  Over the years, the operation has grown and changed. They now operate 498 acres (480 owned and 18 rented) with about 300 tillable acres. Crops include: 150 acres of alfalfa, 120 acres of corn, and 30 acres of oats. Their dairy herds have 60 cows, mostly registered black and white Holsteins and a few red and white. There are 20 cows at the breakfast site, and 40 at the home farm. We also have a herd of 35 beef cows.

Tim and Char were married in 1994. Their two daughters, Jessica 16 and Emily 14, are very interested in farming and the dairy industry. Tim wonders if perhaps they could become the fourth generation to be involved in the dairy industry.

The Steger family extends a thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers; without them this dairy breakfast wouldn’t be possible. Their hope is everyone will enjoy themselves at the June 8 Dairy Breakfast.
