Dairy Days returns to Soldiers Grove

June is upon us and that means once again June Dairy Days in Soldiers Grove.

The event kicks off Friday with a fish fry to benefit the Soldiers Grove Fire Department starting at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tractor fans can also enjoy the pulls starting at 7 p.m. with Farm Class 8500# -SWWI Pullers, 2.4 diesel trucks, open gas 4x4, 8500# altered farm and 9500# super farm and hot farm.

Visitors to the village can strap on their dancing shoes on Saturday and enjoy Ontourage, while they play their tunes from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Saturday morning, hungry dairy enthusiasts can fill themselves up at the Crawford County American Legion Pancake Breakfast starting at 6:30 a.m. and concluding at 9 a.m.

Those looking for a little fun in the June sun, are welcome to play in the annual volleyball tournament in the park. There is a $50 entry fee; those interested are encouraged to contact Doug Heisz at 735-4179 or 608-391-0065.

Men’s and co-ed slow pitch softball tournaments will also be happening on Saturday and Sunday. There is a $100 entry fee with a 100-percent pay back. Those interested are encouraged to contact Nathan McKittrick at 608-632-2179.

There will also be horseshoe tournaments on Saturday and Sunday starting at 11 a.m. Saturday is draw and Sunday will be pick your own. Interested participants can contact Bob Allen 608-606-0767.

There will also be a second round of tractor pulls on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. those with questions can contact Guy Nelson at 632-3178.

On Sunday, parade fans will be on the route at 1 p.m. for the ever-loved Dairy Days Parade. Prizes will be given for the best dairy float, as well as other float prizes. Parade participants should contact Rosie McCullick at 608-629-5095.

Both Saturday and Sunday will also play host to a mini carnival in the park, free milk and cheese and a chicken barbecue from noon on Saturday until the last chicken has been consumed.
