DARLINGTON – The Pop Factory Players are proud to announce that this year’s production is Mel Brooks wildly funny “Young Frankenstein.” The critically acclaimed and monstrously funny film version was recently named “one of the funniest movies of all time” by the American Film Institute. This electrifying adaption was a massive hit on Broadway and will leave you in “stitches.”
Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, (Matt Finkenbinder), Frederick “Fronkensteen” (Joe Dorman) is surprised to learn he has inherited his grandfather’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchback sidekick, Igor (Steve Fitzsimons) and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (Molly Finkenbinder), Frederick finds himself thrust into the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. Along the way he has to deal with his spoiled, madcap fiancée (Jamie Hartwig), a dark and somewhat scary housekeeper Frau Bluecher (Margaret Ruf), a one armed one legged Inspector (Nate Wiegel), a blind hermit (Dan Hemming), and in the end tap dance with the creature he created (Mike Mitchell).
Add to that a cast of some of the most talented singers, dancers, musicians, and comedic talents this area has to offer, and you are sure to be in for a real treat. Performances will be at Darlington High School in the Leona M. Havens Theater. Show dates are Saturday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 22 at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 and will be available at the door.
