Platteville High School seniors Arianna Day and Rachael Demaree will present a chamber recital in the First English Lutheran Church sanctuary in Platteville Saturday, May 31 at 1 p.m.

The program, “Flight: A Senior Recital,” will feature vocal solos, duets and quartets by Day and Demaree, with fellow seniors Will Cooley and Tristan Hirsch. Demaree will also perform solos on bassoon and piano, and pianist Sharon Jensen will accompany all the performers.

A free will donation taken at the concert will be donated to the Platteville Music Boosters.

These student musicians have been performing together since middle school and will feature a variety of repertoire on their program. Songs from music theatre will include works by Irving Berlin, Jason Robert Brown, Clark Gesner, William Finn, and Craig Carnelia. The recital will also feature Gospel and spiritual numbers arranged by Moses Hogan and Charles Albert Tindley, as well as classical compositions by Eugene Bourdeau, Gabriel Fauré, Henry Purcell, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Lodovico Grossi da Viadana.

The concert is free and open to the public, and there will be an opportunity to contribute to the Platteville Music Boosters, who have supported the four performers and many other Platteville Schools’ students in their musical endeavors.

Demaree and Day have been avidly involved in the Wisconsin School Music Association Honors Project ensembles for multiple years, the Heartland Festival summer theatrical productions, district and state Solo and Ensemble Festivals, the full range of Platteville High School vocal and instrumental ensembles, as well as other musical groups in the Midwest, across the country, and in Europe.

Both Day and Demaree will continue their music studies at the collegiate level next year as music majors.  Arianna Day will attend UW–Platteville, majoring in music and business administration, and Demaree will attend Drake University in Des Moines, majoring in choral music education and bassoon performance.

Day is the student of Connie Furlan and Susan Savage Day, and Demaree is the student of Sharon Jensen, Jacqueline Wilson, Barry Ellis, Connie Furlan, and Rebekah Demaree.
