Jamison Museum Association annual dinner Nov. 5

The Jamison Museum Association will hold its annual dinner, annual meeting and program at First English Lutheran Church, 215 W. Pine St., Platteville, Wednesday, Nov. 5.

The pasty dinner will be at 6 p.m., followed by the annual meeting and program at 7:30 p.m. The speaker will be Mike Mair, author of Kaiten: Suicide Submarine.

Mair is the son of a survivor of the U.S.S. Mississinewa, a ship sunk by a Japanese manned suicide submarine. Kaiten tells the story from the strategic importance of the Mississinewa to newly revealed secrets of the kaiten development and training schools. Mair interviewed survivors and their families and naval personnel stationed in the Pacific in 1944. Mair has appeared on the History Channel programs “Deep Sea Detectives” and “Secreat Weapons.”

Tickets are $20 per person or $5 per couple, including a donation to support museum programming. Tickets are available at the museum.
