DARLINGTON – Stop in Darlington for the Thanks for Shopping Darlington event on Thursday, Aug. 24 from 4-7 p.m. Join us in Darlington to shop, eat and have fun! Downtown and Uptown (on the hill) businesses will open later for you to do some shopping and take advantage of their in store events and the Chamber/Main Street will be serving complimentary hotdogs, chips, soda and water at the corner of Main and Ann Streets. Wiota Church Heritage Weekend
WIOTA – Wiota Church Heritage Weekend will take place Friday, Aug. 25 - Sunday, Aug. 27. Friday evening at East Wiota Church at 5:30 p.m., candles will be placed on gravestones, followed by a cemetery walk and storytelling. At 6:30 p.m. a worship service will feature Norwegian folk tunes and some prayers in Norwegian. Refreshments will follow. Saturday evening at West Wiota Church cemetery, at 5:30 p.m. there will be a picnic supper (brats and hotdogs with all the fixings and ice cream as dessert) followed by placing candles on gravestones, a cemetery walk and storytelling. 7:00 p.m. the Swamp Bottom Boys will play live music. Sunday morning at East Wiota Church at 9:30 a.m. will be regular worship followed by coffee. Please bring a lawn chair for Friday and Saturdays festivities.
Geography of Wisconsin
BLANCHARDVILLE – Stop on over to the Yellowstone Lake State Park for a “Geography of Wisconsin” program on Saturday, Aug. 26 starting at 7 p.m. This free, hands-on natural science program is for all ages, led by the Yellowstone Lake State Park Naturalist. Meet in the amphitheater near the campground. Park admission requires a vehicle sticker. Park Office: 608-523-4427.
Doggie Swim
DARLINGTON – Get your pooch ready for the Doggie Swim on Sunday, Aug. 27 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Darlington City Pool. Cost is $5 per dog. All funds go to the Darlington K-9 unit. Bring your dog or just come along and watch the other dogs play! Darlington swimming pool will close for the season on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
Darlington Food Pantry
DARLINGTON – The monthly Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will be on Friday, Sept. 1 at the Town Bank in Darlington Wisconsin from 4-5 p.m. The pantry is held in the lower level of Town Bank. There are no income limits for people wishing to participate. Volunteers are needed from 3-6 p.m. to help unload the truck and distribute food, then clean up. Volunteers may help with any or the entire pantry. To volunteer call Carrie at 608-293-0791 or simply come to the pantry and register as a volunteer the day of the pantry.
Briggs and Reed Tractor Drive
ORANGEVILLE – Don’t forget about our 12th Annual “BRIGGS AND REED TRACTOR DRIVE” on Sat., Sept. 2, 2017. We start at Jim Briggs’ farm, 3699 W. Winslow Rd., Orangeville, Ill., and go 20 miles to Orval Reed’s farm at 7942 Neesseman Rd., South Wayne. There we have a delicious picnic, tour the barn with lots of farm antiques in it. After lunch we head back to Briggs’ place. Please bring a dish to pass for the picnic. You are welcome to come even if you don’t drive a tractor. Everyone always has a fun and informative day. Manor Auxiliary Annual Cookout
DARLINGTON – The Lafayette Manor Auxiliary will once again be hosting their ANNUAL COOKOUT/FUNDRAISER on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 serving brats, burgers, and goodies from 4-7 p.m. The cookout will be held at the Lafayette County Fairgrounds in the FLORAL HALL. The fun-filled evening will consist of a cookout, live local music, and a gift basket raffle. All proceeds from the event are used for resident benefit at the Lafayette Manor. Confirmation Sunday
DARLINGTON – Immanuel United Church of Christ will be celebrating Confirmation Sunday and Rally Day on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. services. There will be a special service during church to recognize the confirmants. After church we’ll be having a fun day with games to kick off the start of Sunday School followed by a potluck dinner. All are welcome. Join us for this celebration!
