Mud volleyball seeks teams

DARLINGTON—The Darlington Lions Club is hosting mud volleyball at the Darlington Canoe Festival this year.
The event will take place from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, at Riverside Park behind Piggly Wiggly in Darlington.
Spectators are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and admission is free. Food, soda and beer will be available for sale at the event. Because this is anticipated to be the Lions club’s largest fundraiser of the year, carry-ins are not allowed.
Ashley Kleiber of the Lions club said there are still some openings for teams and registration has been extended to Saturday, June 2. A maximum of 32 teams can participate. As many as four courts will be used that day for the tournament.
Teams of five, which include at least two women, are encouraged to contact Kleiber at (608) 558-6113 or darlingtonlions@gmail.com to get a registration form. Entry fees for each team are $80. The payouts include $400 for first place, $300 for second place, $200 for third place and $100 for fourth place.
Kleiber said all participants should be 16 years old or older and teams can have substitutes, although only five players are allowed on the court at a time. Showers will be available for the players.
