'Raise the Roof' April 21

The Fennimore Doll & Toy Museum will be holding a “Raise the Roof” event on Saturday, April 21 at the Memorial Building.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. and includes a live auction, silent auction and raffle, will raise funds that will be used to install at new roof at the Doll & Toy Museum.
“All proceeds will go to the new museum roof,” Doll & Toy Museum treasurer Betty Austin said. “We are hoping we can raise half the cost of the roof through the auction.”
Bids received for the project indicate a new roof will cost approximately $12,000, Austin noted.
The raffle’s first prize is an Apex 32” HDTV. Second prize is a boys bicycle and third prize is an Emerson 50x100 telescope with a tripod. Raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $25.
Auction items include a Green Bay Packers signed football (with authentication), two Milwaukee Bucks tickets, Charbroil 3 burner gas grill w/ side burner, a one-week condo stay at Odyssey Wisconsin Dells.
Numerous gift certificates from area businesses, including Braudt Automotive, Fennimore Fitness and Tanning, Hillside Flowers & Greenhouse and Timothy’s restaurant, will also be auctioned off.
Other items on the auction block will be collectibles and antiques including an oak trim fainting couch, dolls, doll buggies and toys, patio set, coffee grinder and a maple dresser.
“We are trying to preserve this historic building and the great things inside it,” Austin said. “We have between 80,000 to 100,000 items we own or have on loan.”
The former United Brethren Church at 1135 6th Street has been home to the Fennimore Doll & Toy Museum since May 2010. The United Brethren Church was built in 1885.
The Fennimore Doll & Toy Museum last held an auction in 2007. That auction raised over $9,000, which was used to purchase a new furnace and air conditioner at the present museum.
The Fennimore Doll & Toy Museum is open daily May through October from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
