Over 60 Fennimore businesses will take part in the 3rd annual Ladies on the Move event scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3. Many of the businesses will offer special discounts and extended hours.

“We are up from about 45 businesses that chose to participate last year, LOTM committee member Linda Parrish said. “The goal is to get people out to support our local businesses and to see what they have to offer.”

This year’s event will also feature many of Fennimore’s newly opened businesses, including Grandma’s Garden, Penny Lane Boutique, K&S Photography, and Hammerand’s Farm Market Store, just to name a few.

“We like to think of it as a community-wide open house,” committee chairperson Shirley Devlin said. “With the holidays just around the corner, what better time to see what services and products are right here in Fennimore.”

There will also be several in-home businesses, such as Pampered Chef and Avon, located at downtown locations.
“This is really worth taking the time to stop and see what kind of deals you can find,” Parrish said. “Most of the businesses will be offering door prizes as well.”

New to this year’s event will be the  showcase of many local artists. Area businesses will display the artwork during the LOTM event, and the elementary school students will have displays available at the Fennimore Memorial Building.

“We had a quilt show last year, so we thought it would be a good idea to change things up a little,” Parrish said. “We have so much talent right here in Fennimore that it deserves to be put on display.”

Artwork includes photography, frames, car art, pottery, jewelry, hand bags, and paintings.

Also at the Memorial Building, Mind, Body and Spirit workshops will take place throughout the day from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Boscobel Area Health Care will also be on hand from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. for free blood pressure checks and health literature. Presentations will also be given by the Fennimore Area Writers Association, Doll and Toy Museum, and Family Medicine.

“There is really something for everyone,” committee member Laura Orth said. “Although it’s called Ladies on the Move, men are certainly welcome. This is a great opportunity to get out and have some fun in the community.”

The newly opened Silent Woman will be extending its happy hour from 4-9 p.m. with $1 pizza and soda specials. They will also be offering wine slushies with wine from local wineries. The Grant County Taxi will be offering taxi rides throughout town for 50 cents per stop.

The first 33 women to return a game card stamped at 33 LOTH locations will receive a $3 coupon to use at participating businesses. All reuturned game sheets are eligible for drawings of Fennimore Bucks.

“Fennimore is a great community, and we should not take for granted all of the wonderful businesses we have,” Parrish said. “This is a terrific opportunity for people to get out and see some of the businesses they haven’t had a chance to visit yet.”
