HOURS FOR TOMORROW'S 'Taste of International Solidarity' event at the Kickapoo Exchange Co-op in Gays Mills are from 3-5 p.m. The event will offer live music, various international soups and Yemeni flat bread.The proceeds will support groups in Central America and Yemen that are working for social justice, environmental protection, peace, and agricultural support.

GAYS MILLS - The Central American Support Alliance is sponsoring the second Taste of International Solidarity on Saturday, March 27, from 3-5 p.m.Weather depending, the event will take place outside the Kickapoo Exchange Co-op in Gays Mills.

 At the event, participants will be able to buy quarts or pints of six different kinds of international soups as well as flat bread from Yemen, while maintaining physical distance and being masked. Enjoy live music as you visit with friends who are also buying these yummy foods to take home, reheat, and enjoy. 

If the weather is too rainy or cold, look for the event just inside the Mercantile Center in the hallway.  KEX curbside service will be available until 5 pm for just this one Saturday (call or e-mail ahead with your order). Please arrive masked and maintain six feet of distance while purchasing your food.

The proceeds will support groups in Central America and Yemen that are working for social justice, environmental protection, peace, and agricultural support: Center for Development in Central America (Nicaragua), Kickapoo/Guatemalan Accompaniment  Project, Richland Center-Santa Teresa Sister City Project (Nicaragua), and a project in Yemen called PureHands.

Thanks to KEX cooks for providing the food that will include meat, vegan, and vegetarian options: Ilana Pestcoe – Vietnamese Pho (meat soup), Khadijah Lacina - Saltah (vegetarian stew from Yemen) and Khubz at-Tawa (flat bread also from Yemen), Patty Pfitsch - Mexican Chicken Soup (you guessed it! from Mexico), Denise Benoit -  Wild rice, mushroom, cranberry cream soup (vegetarian with indigenous North American roots), Mary Stirling – Thai Stir Fry with Coconut milk, Chili, and Lime (either vegetarian with tofu  or chicken), and Ellen Brooks - Curried Caramelized Onion Apple Soup (vegan, Indian-based).

For $10 per quart or $5 per pint, you can take home a yummy addition to your supper and support good works internationally as well. Checks and cash only, please.
