CELEBRATE AG 2 COLOR

The UW–Platteville Pioneer Athletic Department and School of Agriculture announced a new partnership with Badgerland Financial to host a “Celebrate Agriculture” football game.

The Pioneers will kick off against Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent UW–Stevens Point at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium Saturday at 2 p.m.

As part of the Pioneers’ homecoming festivities, the Celebrate Agriculture theme will commence with the homecoming parade beginning at 10 a.m. where Pioneer Farm tractors will drive down Main Street of Platteville. Celebrations will continue with a tailgate and special halftime check presentation during the football game with the School of Agriculture and Badgerland Financial representatives.

“At Badgerland Financial, supporting hard-working farmers is what we do and why we are in business,” said Rochelle Ripp Schnadt, Badgerland Financial marketing specialist and a UW–Platteville ag graduate who was Alice in Dairyland in 2012–13. “That is why we have teamed up with UW–Platteville Athletics and the School of Agriculture to present an all new Celebrate Agriculture initiative. We invite the community to join us in paying tribute to the importance of the agriculture industry and its deep roots in Southwest Wisconsin. “

“The Pioneer Athletic Department is pleased to partner with Badgerland Financial to celebrate Wisconsin’s $88 billion agricultural industry,” said UW–Platteville athletic director Mark Molesworth. “We hope the day’s events will bring awareness to the agriculture industry, the School of Ag at UW–Platteville and be a way of saying thank you farmers and agribusinesses in Southwest Wisconsin and the tri-state area.”

The UW–Platteville School of Agriculture is committed to excellence in undergraduate education and research, scholarly and professional activities, and service to the agriculture industry at the state, regional, national and global levels. UW–Platteville’s School of Agriculture enrolls and provides practical learning experiences to approximately 800 students annually.
