UWPlatteville to host chamber awards Friday, PHS Scholarship Fund auction Saturday

One traditional event and one new event will be held at the UW–Platteville Ullsvik Hall Velzy Commons this weekend.

The Platteville Regional Chamber’s 52nd Annual Celebration and Art Virtue Awards will be held Friday at 5 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Our Community Volunteers.”

Awards traditionally given out include the Community Service Award, for someone who has taken exceptional initiative to enhance and promote the Platteville community; the Business Person(s) of the Year, an individual or couple who has/have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment in the business community; and the Community Spirit Award, for a group or organization who has taken exceptional initiative to enhance and promote the community.

Awards also include the Outstanding Award in the Field of Agriculture, which recognizes an individual, couple, or family who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment in agriculture; the Junior Community Spirit Award, for a student or student organization who has taken exceptional initiative to enhance and promote the community; and the President’s Award for Outstanding Chamber Service, for a chamber volunteer who has provided outstanding service to the chamber; and the Lifetime Service Award, for an individual who has personally contributed extensively and consistently to the overall welfare of the Platteville community.

On Saturday, the first PHS Scholarship Fund dinner and auction will be held starting with cocktail hour at 5 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and the silent auction at 7 p.m.

Hillmen attire is suggested.
