Around Valentine’s Day, what could be more heart-warming than high school sweethearts donating to the scholarship fund of their alma mater?

Lori Duggan Adrian and Mark Adrian are lifelong residents of Platteville. Graduating in the classes of 1973 and 1974 they have celebrated 37 years as a married couple, and have two sons, Kyle (wife, Jackie) and Chad, as well as their grandson, Lucas who attends the Platteville Public Schools.

The Adrians donated $,1000 to be awarded as a scholarship to a member of the Class of 2014. They learned of the PHS Scholarship Fund through conversations with friends and articles in the area’s newspapers.

As successful PHS graduates who have sons who are successful PHS graduates, they know the costs associated with pursuing post-secondary education. As Platteville residents, the Adrians also know the quality of the students attending and graduating from PHS. It is their belief in opportunity that motivated them to join the many others who are helping Hillmen follow their dreams.

The PHS Scholarship Fund’s mission is to expand access to post-secondary education for the students of the Platteville School District. The Fund fulfills this mission primarily by working with the community – its people and businesses – to accumulate monies for scholarships. The Fund made its first awards to 5 graduates of the PHS Class of 2010.  Through the generosity of this community the number and value of scholarships has grown substantially for each subsequent class.

The PHS Scholarship Fund is affiliated with the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, a tax exempt 501(c)(3) public charity.
