GAYS MILLS - Crawford Stewardship Project invites community members to a presentation and discussion titled ‘Democracy and Science Under Siege’ on Friday, Oct. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Gays Mills Community Commerce Center in the Boardroom.

‘Democracy and Science Under Siege’ will consist of a presentation from Matt Rothschild, Executive Director of Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. The presentation will focus on the subversion of democracy and the denial of science within decisions made on local, state and national levels.

This discussion is crucial to all who care about Crawford Stewardship Project’s mission of protecting local and neighboring regions form polluting and extractive industries.  Discussion on topics will follow.

Matt Rothschild brings a fresh and insightful understanding of science and democracy in today’s political climate, including many environmental issues that affect us in our local communities. Before Matt’s position with the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, he worked at ‘The Progressive’ magazine for 32 years. For most of those years, he was the editor and publisher of ‘The Progressive.’  Matt wrote a book entitled ‘You Have No Rights: Stories of America in an Age of Repression’ and has also had opinion pieces featured in the Chicago Tribune, the LA Times, the Miami Herald and a host of other newspapers.
