On Sept. 1, Congressman Ron Kind (D-La Crosse) came to Richland Center, part of the Third Congressional District in the state. Among his stops were a listening session, conducted at UW-Richland, and a visit at The Richland Hospital.

During the listening session he answered a number of questions from community members about budget cuts to the Wisconsin education system, how we can best care for our veterans, ongoing rail issues, and his stance on the Iran agreement. Other topics discussed included climate action issues, transportation, and retirement fund concerns.

Congressman Kind advised people to tune out from non-stop campaign coverage. He said he believes campaigns go on too long and cost too much money. He said there’s plenty of time to wait until next year’s election draws nearer.

When Congressman Ron Kind visited The Richland Hospital he spoke with hospital and Richland Medical Center leaders about the Medicare critical access program, health care reform, shortages of skilled medical personnel, and improving community health.
