CRAWFORD COUNTY - A Bug Tussel resolution proposing a partnership between the cell tower company and Crawford County in a grant application to Public Service Commission was tabled on an 8-7 roll call vote at the county board meeting on Tuesday.

Some county board members wanted to pass the resolution, despite the fact that during an informational meeting held Thursday, Nov. 5, Bug Tussel CEO Steve Schneider had withdrawn the company’s proposal to partner with the county on the grant application to the PSC for broadband internet funding.

At the county board meeting on Tuesday, several county supervisors and members of the public spoke against the project to erect five or six cell towers to create a wireless internet network in the Wauzeka-Steuben area.

However, Crawford County Board Chairperson Tom Cornford and some other county supervisors spoke in favor of the proposal, despite  Schneider’s earlier withdrawal of the proposal.

As to what was to be the focus of the board meeting on Tuesday, the board unanimously approved the 2021 Crawford County Budget, which included a short-term loan of $425,000.
