Kind to Walker: Protect families health care

In response to a new study by the Kaiser Family Foundation on the devastating impacts the King vs. Burwell Supreme Court decision could have on Wisconsinites, U.S. Rep. Ron Kind (D-WI) has called on Republican Gov. Scott Walker to take the money to expand Badgercare and begin laying the groundwork to set up a Wisconsin exchange.

“Gov. Walker needs to immediately take steps to stand up for the over 166,000 Wisconsinites who face an uncertain future with their health care coverage. It is long past time for him to put the people of Wisconsin first by finally accepting the money to expand Badgercare and laying the groundwork to set up a Wisconsin exchange,” Kind said. “These two actions will give people across Wisconsin the protection and certainty they deserve.”

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation study, over 166,000 Wisconsinites could lose their health care subsidies and see an average premium increase of 250% depending on the outcome of the King vs. Burwell Supreme Court decision.
