The Library Block project groundbreaking will be held on the Library Block — West Main Street, South Chestnut Street, West Pine Street and South Elm Street — in Platteville Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The public/private partnership includes a new Platteville Public Library and a 72-room Holiday Inn Express, with the former library space renovated for the Southwest Wisconsin Community Action Program Neighborhood Health Partners clinic. The project also includes 59 underground parking spaces and 37 surface parking spaces. The project is expected to be completed in April 2017.

“National Construction is pleased to be the selected contractor for the Library Block Redevelopment project,” said Jeff Grundahl, owner of National Construction, Inc., of Madison. “We are very excited to help bring this great asset to the community.”

Miners Development, LLC, of St. Cloud, Minn., is the project developer. Other participants in the project include the City of Platteville, the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (which administers the federal New Market Tax Credits), Forward Community Investments, the Platteville Public Library Board, and the Platteville Library Foundation.
