PLATTEVILLE — The cost of many of the City of Platteville’s recreation programs will increase next year.

The Common Council unanimously approved the 2013 fee schedule Aug. 28. The new fee schedule places Platteville’s fees closer to those in neighboring communities, according to city officials.

Most programs are increasing $5 for city residents and $10 for nonresidents. The largest increases are in summer youth soccer, which charged $15 for residents and $30 for nonresidents in 2012. U9 soccer is increasing to $25 for residents and $50 for nonresidents; U11 soccer is increasing to $30 and $60, respectively; and U14 soccer is increasing to $35 and $70, respectively.

Youth tennis lessons are increasing from $15 for residents and $30 for nonresidents to $25 and $50, respectively.

Programs whose cost will stay the same include Start Smart Football, Soccer, Baseball and Basketball, plus Backyard Buddies, pre-kindergarten soccer, Introduction to Sports, fall 4- and 5-year-old soccer, and Saturday preschool workshops.
