Platteville school tax rates up in the air thanks to Legislature

The Platteville School District was to hear this week one component of what sets the school district’s mil rate — the school district’s certified aid from the state.

However, the special session of the Legislature scheduled this week on Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed $40 million school aid increase is expected to delay an accurate certified aid figure until the end of October, according to school district Business Manager Art Beaulieu.

The school district’s mil rate last year was $11.44 per $1,000 assessed valuation. The owner of a $150,000 house  paid $1,716 in school taxes this year.
