According to a 2014 budget summary for Lafayette County presented by Nicola Maurer, county finance director, during the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15 the budget levy amount for 2014 is anticipated to be $6,847,021.         Last year’s budget levy came in at $6,722,582 for the year 2013, so this year’s anticipated levy amount will see a $124,439 increase.
The budget summary noted that the initial 2014 levy request was $7,802,670, but after reduction adjustments to individual department budgets and a proposed borrowing of $250,000 with a debt service of $52,920 the proposed amount of $6,847,021 for the 2014 levy was reached.
Maurer also explained that 2012 was the last year that referendum money was available for Lafayette Manor and that the manor will need levy support in the 2014 budget.
The public hearing on the proposed 2014 budget has been scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. The next county board of supervisors meeting will also take place directly after the budget hearing.
