The improving weather brings other signs of spring.

Youth programming includes basketball, dance, golf, soccer, swimming, T-ball, tennis, volleyball plus 12 youth camps, one focusing on dinosaurs. Adult Aqua Zumba, softball and volleyball are all open for registration.

Those in need of financial assistance can apply for an Every Child Plays Scholarship; contact the Recreation Office for more details.

To register for upcoming programming online follow the ActiveNet link at www.platteville.org/recreation. Information is available by calling 348-9741 ext. 2238 or at the Municipal Building Recreation Office at 75 N. Bonson St.

The Platteville Street Department will have the leaf machine in operation for the spring pick-up beginning on Monday, March 23 (weather permitting) until Friday, May 1.

Any yard waste accumulated after that date will need to be placed in City of Platteville dollar bags. Residents should rake leaves to the curb and NOT in the gutter.

For more information, contact the Street Department, 348-8828.

A general clean-up of Hillside Cemetery and Greenwood Cemetery will begin on Monday, March 30, weather permitting.

People who decorate graves are asked to remove decorations they wish to save by March 29. During clean-up, cemetery personnel will discard any flowers or decorations remaining after March 30. Flowers and decorations may again be placed after Friday, April 3.

Flowers and decorations should be placed on either end of the headstone but not in front, to allow access for equipment for digging future graves. Rules of the cemetery are posted at each entrance.
