Kristine Trongaard Drettwan was sworn in as a Walworth County circuit judge Jan. 30. Kristine Drettwan, the daughter of Craig and Mary Trongaard of Platteville, graduated from Platteville High School in 1986, and then graduated from UW–Madison and the University of Minnesota School of Law. She was an assistant district attorney in Douglas and Walworth counties, handling cases of sexual assault, child abuse, domestic abuse, animal abuse, other crimes against persons, property crimes, and drug offenses.  Drettwan had been a family court commissioner in Walworth County before Gov. Scott Walker appointed her to replace Circuit Judge John Race, who retired after 29 years on the bench. The Drettwans live in Elkhorn and have two children.
