Juneau County emergency preparedness exercise is Apr. 6
It will help emergency personnel assess skills, plans for responding to flooding incidents

Juneau County Emergency Management, in conjunction with the City of Elroy, Village of Union Center and Village of Wonewoc, will host an emergency preparedness Full Scale Exercise Apr. 6 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

Juneau County Emergency Management wishes to make the public aware that this is a training exercise only and to advise the communities of increased activity for emergency response vehicle traffic throughout the exercise areas, if possible you should try to avoid these areas.

• Village of Union Center: There will be increased emergency response vehicle activities throughout the community.

• City of Elroy: Activities will be taking place in the area near Heritage Manor and the Methodist Church on Royall Avenue, by Hansen’s IGA and the Powerhouse on Franklin and County Trunk O.

• Village of Wonewoc: Activities will be occurring in the area of Center Street by Baker’s Field, around West Street and at the High School on School Road.

The exercise will be conducted using previous lessons learned and planning enhancements from the outcome of the previously conducted tabletop and functional exercises which focused on a similar type of event. It will allow participating agencies an opportunity activate their community Emergency Response Plan, Emergency Operations Center and coordinate the response procedure in a realistic manner by deploying personnel and resources in response to a simulated flooding incident that impacts the communities.

Expected outcomes from this exercise include improved coordination and confidence, validation of the emergency response plans, and improved overall emergency response and recovery posture.
