PLATTEVILLE — The Grant County Sheriff’s Department is seeking a man suspected in an assault of a 49-year-old Platteville woman at the Oak Park Trailer Park, 5215 Classic Lane, Saturday night.

The man is described as white, 6-foot-6 with “a bit of a pot belly,” wearing dark clothing and a ski mask.

The assault occurred around 6:40 p.m. as the woman walked from her vehicle to her front door after running some errands in Platteville.

The man struck the woman several times in her face, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

The attack was broken off when, according to the woman, a car drove into the driveway of the trailer park, and the assailant ran off.

The victim was taken by private vehicle to Southwest Health Center for treatment of her injuries.

A Tuesday morning news release reported the Sheriff’s Department has “a person of interest,” and there is no threat to the public from what the department calls an isolated incident.
