Rountree Branch trail project reaches DNR grant match

The Moving Platteville Outdoors Rountree Trail steering committee announced that a $45,000 federal-government Recreational Trails Program grant allowed MPO to complete the match with the state Department of Natural Resources grant.

The grant increased fundraising to $1,472,724, including:

• $642,692: DNR grant.

• $45,000: Federal grant.

• $189,300: Other grants and corporate donations outside Platteville.

• $200,000: City of Platteville (14 percent of funding).

• $146,302: Local business donations and projects (10 percent of fundraising).

• $249,430: Residential fundraising drive, service clubs and other projects (17 percent of total fundraising).

About 60 percent of funding came from outside Platteville. 

A public hearing was held on the trail project Tuesday.
