The Platteville Community Fund is now accepting grant applications for its spring 2013 grant cycle.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Monday, April 15 by 4 p.m. at the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin office in Janesville.

The Platteville Community Fund is celebrating a decade of service to the greater Platteville community. It is dedicated to improving the Platteville community by supporting projects and programs that enhance the arts, education, health and human services, the environment and historic preservation.

Charitable non-profit organizations serving the people of the Platteville area are eligible to apply for grants; requests from individuals are not eligible.

The Platteville Community Fund made its first grant of $400 in 2005 — a rescue strut for the Platteville Fire Department. Since then, the Platteville Community Fund has made grants of more than $127,000 to the community. Among others, organizations including Building Platteville, Inc., the City of Platteville, the Jamison Museum Association & Mining Museum, the Platteville Chorale, the Platteville Community Arboretum, the Platteville School District, the Senior Center, and the Platteville Holiday Project have written successful grant applications.

The grant application and instructions are online at www.cfsw.org. Two copies of the grant application must be received at the Community Foundation office in Janesville by 4 p.m. on Monday, April 15. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

“A grant committee, composed of Platteville residents, will review the eligible applications making the announcement of grant recipients during May,” said Nate Curry, Platteville Community Fund Advisory Board vice chair.
