TOWN OF POTOSI — An Aurora, Ill., man died and a Potosi teenager was injured in a head-on crash on Wisconsin 133 Thursday afternoon.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a crash and fire on 133 one-half mile north of Clauer Lane around 5:30 p.m.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the car, driven by Liza K. Johnson, 17, was going north on 133 as the tractor–trailer, driven by Carlos F. Martinez, 44, was starting down the hill going south. Johnson’s car crossed the center line into the southbound lane, the two vehicles collided, and the semi caught fire.

Martinez was taken by ambulance to Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster and then by Med Flight helicopter to UW Hospital in Madison, where he was pronounced dead. Johnson was taken by Med Flight from the scene to UW Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.

The Sheriff’s Office and a Wisconsin State Patrol reconstructionist and inspector are investigating the crash.

The Potosi Fire Department and EMS and Cassville Fire Department and EMS also responded to the call.
