2 victims in Iowa County crashes die of injuries

Two people involved in Iowa County crashes in late August have died.

Alice M. Terrill, 78, rural Dodgeville, died Thursday of injuries in a crash in the Town of Dodgeville Aug. 29.

Terrill was the passenger in a car driven by her husband, Lowell L. Terrill, 81, which was hit by a car driven by Andrew D. Polkinghorn, 31, Lancaster, according to the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department.

Lowell Terrill was driving west on Section Line Road when Polkinghorn’s car failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with the Terrill car at the intersection of Iowa County Z and Section Line Road.

The Terrills, Polkinghorn and his two passengers, Natcha Polkinghorn, 40, and Tyra R. Polkinghorn, 5, were taken by Dodgeville EMS to Upland Hills Health. Alice Terrill was then taken by MedFlight helicopter to UW Hospital in Madison.

Meanwhile, Anthony A. Cain, 34, St. Joseph, Ill., died of injuries from a crash on U.S. 151 north of Mineral Point Aug. 18.

Cain was driving north at high speed on 151 when his car hit a car driven by William Buckingham, 86, Mineral Point, at 151 and Iowa County YD, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Cain’s passenger, Garrett W. Smart, 18, Mineral Point, was treated and released. Buckingham and his passenger, Lois, were taken to Upland Hills Health.
