DODGEVILLE — A reported car theft in Dodgeville ended with a car crash in downtown Madison and the arrest of an 18-year-old West Bend man.

Iowa County authorities reported a gas drive-off from a Dodgeville gas station Friday around 5:30 p.m. Iowa County authorities said the vehicle was a Ford F-150 pickup with a topper with Illinois license plates.

Barneveld police found the truck on U.S. 151 and began pursuing it until the truck began driving over residential yards. The truck then rolled over on Iowa County K.

The driver then ran away and stole another truck in the Town of Brigham, according to WKOW-TV in Madison.

Three hours later, around 8:30 p.m., a Verona police officer found the second stolen truck and tried to stop it. The Verona squad car was damaged when the truck backed into it.

Authorities then pursued the truck into downtown Madison, where it crashed into two cars. The driver then took off on foot but was apprehended by a Madison police K-9 unit.

Austyn Wolford, 18, was arrested after the crash. Charges are pending.
