A Dodgeville man escaped serious injury in a one-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 18 east of Fennimore on Monday morning, April 25.

Trevor Oomens, 19, was driving his 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser westbound on Highway 18 near Brown School Road at approximately 7:35 a.m.

Oomens closed his eyes “for a few seconds” and when he opened them he was crossing the center line of the highway, according to a Grant County Sheriff’s Office news release.

When Oomens over-corrected his vehicle struck the embankment, causing it to roll over. He was extricated from the vehicle by the Fennimore Fire Department and was transported to Grant Regional Hospital in Lancaster by Fennimore EMS.

The Fennimore Police Department assisted at the accident scene, as did Collision Specialists.
