A 20-year-old Platteville man faces theft charges after he was found in the back yard of a house early Sunday.

Jonathan R. Contreraz was arrested on a theft charge and cited for public intoxication and underage drinking.

A resident at 460 W. Camp St. found Contreraz lying in her backyard around 5:55 a.m.

Further police investigation found that some vehicles had been illegally entered in the city, and Contreraz had property from one of those vehicles. One theft victim found a cellphone belonging to Contreraz inside that person’s vehicle, police said.
