The Platteville Police Department and Platteville Fire Department will host a National Night Out event in City Park Tuesday, Aug. 5 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The event will include a bean bag competition and a safety walk.
National Night Out Against Crime was created to heighten awareness of crime prevention, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and build partnerships with emergency services.
Police encourage people to lock doors and windows, turn on their porch lights, and enjoy the evening outside. Platteville police are encouraging neighborhoods to hold their own neighborhood events Tuesday.
