The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down east of Fennimore on Sunday evening.

“We take a look at the debris and try to rate how strong it is,” said Dan Baumgardt this morning at the Paul and Paula Bender residence on County Highway Q.

Baumgardt works with the National Weather Service - La Crosse and arrived in the Fennimore area this morning to survey the damage and determine the strength of the tornado.

Several farm buildings were destroyed on Tormey Road and several properties along County Highway Q sustained severe damage.
