MONTFORT — A Montfort man and a Linden woman were arrested on methamphetamine charges Aug. 5.

Cade Kirkpatrick, 24, and Danielle Abbott, 30, were charged in Grant County Circuit Court in Lancaster Friday with party to possession of methamphetamine precursors and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A preliminary hearing for Kirkpatrick and Abbott is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m.

Kirkpatrick was separately charged with operating after revocation (refusal) and failure to install or tampering with an ignition interlock device. Kirkpatrick will be arraigned on those charges Aug. 21.

Kirkpatrick also faces Iowa County charges of failure to report to the county jail for more than 10 days, possession of narcotic drugs, operating after revocation (refusal) and possession of drug paraphernalia. A status conference on those charges is scheduled for Aug. 26 at 10:30 a.m.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was informed Aug. 5 around 1:05 p.m. of a suspicious vehicle parked on East Main Street near Lil Tykes Daycare in Montfort, with occupants reported as “acting strange.”

A fourth occupant of the vehicle had left on foot and was seen trying to hide an object by the tank near the Montfort VFW, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A sheriff’s deputy made contact with Kirkpatrick, and items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine were identified, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The Grant County K-9 A-Rod searched the vehicle, and the search discovered additional methamphetamine manufacturing products, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Two additional occupants of the vehicle were released at the scene, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Kirkpatrick was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia in 2013, according to court records.

Abbott was convicted of two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia in La Crosse County in 2003 in a case in which three felony drug counts — two counts of manufacture or delivery of methamphetamine and one count of manufacture or delivery of cocaine — were dismissed, according to court records. Abbott was jailed after she was convicted of one count of possession of drug paraphernalia in La Crosse County in 2011.
