Soldiers Grove Fire Department to host annual Pancake Supper fundraiser
SGFD

SOLDIERS GROVE - The Soldiers Grove Fire Department ‘Redcoats’ invite the community to their 15th annual, all-you-can-eat, Pancake Supper fundraiser.

The event will take place on Saturday, May 19, 4-7 p.m., at the American Legion, 104 Legion Drive,  Soldiers Grove. In addition to the supper, there will also be Chinese raffles and a free youth raffle.

The menu will include pancakes, real maple syrup, eggs, apple sauce, white and chocolate milk, and coffee. The maple syrup was made and donated by Russell Gilbert, who will have maple syrup for sale at the event. Among the other donors were also Organic Valley and Westby Cooperative Creamery with dairy products, and Country Gardens with eggs and applesauce.

Generous raffle donations in support of the event have come from John Young, who donated a .22 Cricket for the children’s raffle, and other businesses ranging from Genoa to Gays Mills, such as Rudy’s of Genoa, Driftless Brewery, Shear Heaven in the Grove, Showen Excavating and Stump Dodger Bash, The Marketplace, Royal Bank, Village Greenhouse, and Halver’s Town Tap to name a few.

“With the help of the Village of Soldiers Grove and our supportive community, we were just able to purchase a new brush truck to replace the old one which was failing,” Soldiers Grove Fire Chief Ben Clason said. “Our all-volunteer department relies heavily on support from the community through fundraising efforts like this one to continue to upgrade our fleet of vehicles and deliver basic services.”

Clason went on to explain that the department has now set its sights on an upgrade to their “jaws of life” equipment. They are hoping to purchase a cordless version which will reduce the amount of equipment the department has to take on calls, and potentially make for faster and more streamlined response to emergency situations.

If you are unable to attend the event but want to donate, please send donations to Soldiers Grove Redcoats, P.O. Box 121, Soldiers Grove, WI, 54655.
