Celebrating the Chinese New Year
Chionese New Year for web

Two classes of Boscobel second and third grade students paraded down Wisconsin Avenue Monday with their homemade dragon in celebration of the Chinese New Year. They are seen here having their picture taken in front of the China King restaurant. Chinese New Year’s Day is the first day of the Chinese lunar calendar, but the date is different each year on our Gregorian calendar, between Jan. 21 and Feb. 20. Chinese New Year 2016 is the Year of the Monkey. In Chinese folklore, for people born in a Year of the Monkey (1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992 and 2004), 2016 is considered a bad year.
