The year was 1855. Cougars and wolves roamed wild in the hills of what is now Crawford County, which at that time entailed the entire western half of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin had been a state for just seven years when George Christ purchased 160 acres of land in a remote valley a few miles north of Boscobel and built a modest log home on the property.
Fast forward 162 years to 2017 and Darrick Luck of the Excelsior-based company Old Wood, New Use LLC is dismantling the home log by log for resale to a potential buyer, and preserving an early piece of Wisconsin history.
