A four-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 27 and County J last Thursday afternoon resulted in only minor injuries to the drivers, according  to Vernon County Sheriff John Spears.

The crash occurred about 3:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8 in the Township of Franklin.

Jonathan Thomas Sherry, 17, rural Viroqua, was stopped southbound on 27 signaling to turn east onto J. Brandon J. Mickelson, 17, rural Viroqua, was also southbound on 27 when he was unable to stop his vehicle and it rear-ended Sherry’s vehicle.

Morrison’s vehicle continued north on 27 and struck a vehicle driven by Jeffrey R. Peterson, 39, rural Viroqua. Peterson was stopped at a stop sign on J, waiting to turn north onto 27.

All drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Morrison was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Sherry, Mickelson and Peterson were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Viroqua Police Department, the Viroqua Fire Department and Tri-State Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department.
