Windmills seen from a birds-eye-view. Wayne Beck, Project Manager for the Quilt Block Windmill Farm stated the project is on track to be completed by October of this year. At press time fifteen of forty-nine windmills have been assembled. The two main cranes have made there way south of Hwy. 81, one will cross back north of Hwy. 81 to erect the northwest corner turbines. Beck said, “With the storms in July we had some slow days but were able to continue working most of the time.” When asked if they have run into any snags. Beck responded, “Nothing that has not been planned for.”
The windmills have a temporary light on top of the nacelles before they are erected. Once the grid connection is made the temporary lights will be removed and the permanent lights take over.
