The fair season is wrapping up for Hailee Wetter with bittersweet notes. The Stitzer native is headed for UW-Platteville to begin classes as an incoming freshman in two weeks, having graduated from Fennimore High School in the spring. And then there is Frank.

Frank was sold just a few days ago, headed for the butcher’s block...“He’s such a sweetheart,” she says, forgetting to put him into the past tense.

Frank is, or rather was, a goat with a heart of gold and a track record of performing well. The first attribute earned him Hailee’s affection. The second earned him a high earning spot in the champion’s meat animal auction at the Grant County Fair last week.
