The U.S. Department of Agriculture has released its distribution list for the latest ground turkey recall from Cargill Meat Solutions Corp., and a Fennimore grocery store is among the retailers who can receive the meat from its warehouse. A store spokesperson said this week that Bender's has not carried the ground turkey patties on its shelves. Customers are to be assured that the stores turkey and other meats are safet to eat at this time.
About 185,000 pounds were recalled Sunday, Sept. 11, by the Springdale, Ark., company, after testing positive for a strain of Salmonella Heidelberg.
According to the USDA (www.fsis.usda.gov), the recalled meat was sold at Bender’s Foods in Fennimore, in addition to eight other Wisconsin businesses.
Visit www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls/Open_Federal_Cases/index.asp, to see the entire retail distribution list and more information, including recommendations for preventing Salmonella.
If you bought the recalled turkey, Cargill says you should return it to the store.
