Allene L. Acherman, age 79 of Darlington, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at the Lafayette County Manor in Darlington. She was born July 24, 1938 in Wauwatosa, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel (Bowen) Cox. Allene graduated from Boscobel High School in Boscobel. She was united in marriage to Francis J. Acherman on June 21, 1958 in Dubuque, Iowa. Allene lived in various cities throughout her life settling in Truman, Wis., in 1972. She worked at Lands End in Dodgeville where she worked in the embroidery department.
Allene is survived by her husband Frank at home; five children: Paul Acherman of Platteville, Larry Acherman of Silver Springs, Md., Dawn (Thomas) Arneson, Nancy (fiancé: Joey Wiegel) Acherman, and Brian (Christina) Acherman all of Darlington; six grandchildren: Jason and Hannah Furman, Alyssa and Haden Kilcoyne, and Emilee and Jordan Acherman; one brother: Otto (Carolyn) Cox of Appleton; two sisters: Leona (Charles) Lederman of Monroe, and Evadean (Gary) “Red” Sanders of Arizona. She was preceded in death by: her parents; one sister: Carolyn Robinson; and two grandchildren: Kyle and Tyler Kilcoyne.
Allene was a member of the Truman Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a member of its CCW. She enjoyed working at the Kendall Township election polls. Allene spent time as a secretary for Frank’s TV in Darlington. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren creating memories that will last a lifetime. She will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Truman Immaculate Conception on Catholic Church (20984 County Z, Kendell Township, Darlington) with Rev. Joji Reddy officiating. Burial will be held in Holy Rosary Cemetery. A visitation was held Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
