Betty L. McKenna, age 88 of Gratiot, passed away Friday, July 7, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. She was born April 9, 1929 in Gratiot the daughter of John and Ferne (Lincicum) McGlynn. Betty graduated from Gratiot High School. She was united in marriage to Robert McKenna on Aug. 19, 1950 in Gratiot. Betty lived in Gratiot her entire life where she dedicated 44 working years to Gratiot State Bank and was co-owner of McKenna Trucking in Gratiot with her husband.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Robert at home; two daughters: Nancy Larson of Argyle and Donna (Dennis) Breed of Warren, Ill.; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert McGlynn of Gratiot and Charles (Geraldine) McGlynn of Brookfield, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Gordon and James McGlynn; and one sister: Inegene Lisser.
Betty was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Gratiot and it’s Council of Catholic Women. She cherished the time she spent with her family attending all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s activities. Her family and friends will always remember Betty for her generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A family remembrance was held Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (5685 Main Street, Gratiot) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. where Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Gratiot. A visitation was held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) where a rosary was prayed at 4:00 p.m. A visitation was also held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Betty’s name.
