Betty L. Weber, age 87 of Oregon, formerly of Darlington, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born Aug. 8, 1930 in Reeseville, the daughter of Michael and Nettie (Pawson) Straseske. Betty was united in marriage to Walter C. Weber on June 8, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Betty grew up in the Reeseville area until her marriage to Walter when they moved to the Darlington area. She lived in the Darlington area until 1994. Following the loss of Walter she moved to Oregon, to be closer to her family. Betty had an in-home daycare in Darlington for many years where she enjoyed taking care of many children in the Darlington area and also in Oregon for a short time. She was also a waitress for a number of restaurants in Darlington over the years.
Betty is survived by her children: Darryl (Connie) Weber of Oregon, Claude (Linda) Weber of Belleville, Lee (Diana) Weber of Brooklyn, Kris Weber of Stoughton, Stephani (Ron Back) Barger of Belleville, and Monica (Cory Engen) Weber of Evansville; twelve grandchildren: Kim, Kevin, Matt, Chad, Denise, Jesse, Sabeana, Levi, Destiney, Kash, Izabella, and River; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter on Jan. 4, 1994; four brothers; and one sister.
Betty was a past member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington and its CCW. She cherished the time she spent with her family creating memories that they will all remember forever. She loved children and took it upon herself to foster many children over the years. Betty enjoyed crocheting and was always reading a good book. She was a true dog lover and took an exception to her dog Brandy. Betty will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Erickson Funeral Home (508 Main Street, Darlington) where Rev. Sudhakar Devarapu of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg officiated. Burial was in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation was held Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
