Carl “Butch” Rowley, 73 of Apple River, Ill., passed away on Thursday July 27, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on Nov. 15, 1943 to Laurentine “Tine” and Lillian (Hawkinson) Rowley, in Darlington. He married Judith A. Bennett on Sept. 23, 1972 in Shullsburg. Butch farmed in his younger years and then he worked for Fosters, Burmeisters, The Foundry and owned and operated his own mechanic business. He played in a band, with his brother Bob. He was an avid antique tractor enthusiast and enjoyed tinkering with his tractors. He competed in tractor pulls at the JoDaviess County Fair, Apple River Chicken BBQ, Gratiot and the Warren Pumpkin Festival.
He is survived by his children; Laurie Rowley of Apple River, Ill., Tom (Tawny) Rowley of Warren, Ill., Amy (Josh) Harris of Poplar Grove, Ill.; four grandchildren; Autumn Stiefel of Apple River, Ill., McKenzie Rowley of Warren, Ill., Gavin and Jameson Harris of Poplar Grove, Ill., sister;  Carol (Terry) Hoeper of Benton, sisters-in-law; Carol Bennett of Shullsburg, Phyliss Lange of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Lillian Rowley of Shullsburg, brother-in-law; Dennis Foley of Kenosha and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Judith, brothers; Arlo, Robert, Donald and Howard, mother and father-in-law James and May Bennett, brothers-in-law; Jerry Bennett, Robert Lange and an infant brother-in-law Ronnie, sister-in-law; Sandy Foley and an infant sister-in-law Shirley and, one niece, Shelly Rowley.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, Ill. Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. until time of services on Wednesday. Sean Huguenin officiated the services. A memorial has been established in his name.
