Charles E. Thompson, age 84 years, of rural Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.

He was born on Aug. 23, 1931 to George F. and Mildred (Sebranek) Thompson at Hillsboro.  He graduated from the Hillsboro High School.  Charles was a Veteran of the U. S. Army serving in the 82nd Infantry Division during the Korean War, entering in January 1952 and honorably discharged on March 1, 1953.

Charles was united in marriage to Susan Ann Ennis in 1961 and celebrated 54 years of marriage.

He operated Wildcat Implement in Hillsboro from 1964 to 1985 and later became a rural mail carrier in Hillsboro serving from 1986 to 2000.  Charles also farmed for many years.  He enjoyed trout fishing and continued the family tradition of making maple syrup and always enjoyed working on tractors.  He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Hillsboro.

Survivors include his wife, Susan; children, Angel (Dick) Belke of La Crosse, Chris (Heidi) Thompson of Hillsboro, Ben (Mary) Thompson of Cadott and Dan (Bobee) Thompson of Elroy; grandchildren, Cindy (Matt) Willey, Beth (Tyler) Swenson, and Nathan, Kaden, Isabella and Colton Thompson; and brother, James (Sybil) Thompson of Reedsburg.

A celebration of Charles’ life will take place at a date in the near future.
