Dave Glindinning, age 80 of Shullsburg passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington. He was born July 2, 1935 in Shullsburg the son of Will and Gladys (Teasdale) Glindinning. Dave graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1953 and from Madison Area Technical College in Madison in 1955. He was united in marriage to Verlea Murray on Dec. 26, 1955 in Benton. Dave lived in Shullsburg his whole life. He owned and operated Shullsburg Tire Mart for 25 years. In 1986 he started working for Truck Country in Shullsburg in the sales Department until his retirement in December of 2015.
Dave is survived by his wife Verlea at home; two children: James (Yvonne Munro) Glindinning of Janesville and Ann (Jeff) Lutes of Shullsburg; five grandchildren: David (Emilie) Glindinning, Dylan Glindinning, Dustin Both, Brooks Lutes, and Blaire Lutes; a great granddaughter: Lela; a sister-in-law: Mary Donna Lacke; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Elva Harker; a brother-in-law: Jerome Lacke; and a sister-in-law: Pat Ganser.
Dave was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church and the Shullsburg Fire Department for 55 years. Dave received numerous awards for his hard work and dedication at Truck Country. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, but most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church (344 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg) with Rev. John Bosco Pudhota of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, a branch of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and Rev. David Flanagan of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Benton concelebrating. Burial was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Benton. A visitation was held Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Shullsburg is serving the family. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Benton or St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg.
