Dwaine J. Garvey, 86, of Belmont, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at Southwest Health Center, Platteville.  A Celebration of Life was held from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at the Sports Page in Belmont.  Private family burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery at a later date. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville is serving the family.  Memorials may be made to the Dwaine J. Garvey Memorial Fund.  Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Dwaine was born on Sept. 14, 1930 in Darlington, son of James and Lulu (Colbeck) Garvey.  He graduated from Darlington High School in 1948.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, 1951 to 1953 where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division.  He was united in marriage to Donna Lou Staver on Feb. 4, 1956.  She preceded him in death on Nov. 1, 1995.  Dwaine farmed in Belmont from 1965 to 1979.  He then worked for Bob Bockhop, Bockhop Builders, Belmont.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, and golfing at the Darlington Golf and Country Club.  He enjoyed spending time at the Belmont Meal Site and delivering Meals on Wheels.
Dwaine is survived by four children, Deena (Jim) Burke of Mineral Point; Deb Garvey of Belmont; Dirk (Jill) Garvey of Belmont; Dan (Michelle) Garvey of Darlington; four grandchildren, Sanya (Pat) Johnson, Dylan and Sarena Burke and Courtney (Adam) Yanna; three great-grandchildren, Jocilyn Johnson, and Tanner and Tucker Yanna; special friend, Joyce Peterson of Fennimore; one sister, Millie (Pete) Parkinson and brother, Glen (Betty) Garvey all of Darlington.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna, parents, sisters, Alberta Staver and Lucille Johnson.
The family would like to give a special THANKS to the Belmont Volunteer EMS, Dr. Jeffrey White, Upland Hills Hospice and Southwest Health Center for all of their care given to Dwaine.
