Eva A. Henderson, age 84 years, of Hillsboro, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Heritage Manor in Elroy, Wisconsin.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1929 to Irven and Dortha (Todd) Borland in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.  She graduated from the Richland Center High School in 1947.  Eva was united in marriage to Ronald E. Henderson on June 15, 1949 at the First Congregational Church in Hillsboro.  They lived in the Yuba area for many years prior to moving into Hillsboro.  He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2004.

Eva was a country school teacher for five years in Richland and Vernon County.  She was also a relief telephone operator at the Yuba Telephone Office.  She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered delivering mail in the Nursing Home and Hospital.  Also a member of the First Congregational Church and in later years involved with the kitchen and making chicken noodle soup; sang in the Church Choir; served as a Deaconess, Greeter and Usher and in charge of serving lunch after funerals.  She also was part of the Czech Singers at Cesky Den.

Survivors include her children, Jeane (Kirk) Dempsey of Jacksonville, Florida, Rhonda (Roger) Peterson of Jersey City, New Jersey and Donnel Henderson of LaCrosse; five grandchildren, Joe (Loanna) Dempsey, Boston Shaw, Connor Shaw, Manny Henderson and Nicole Fike Henderson; great grandchildren, Brett Dempsey and Keyera Shaw; and a brother, Byron Borland of Viroqua.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Hillsboro, with Rev. Isaac Fleming officiating.  Burial will be in the East Pine Cemetery near Yuba.  Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the Church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.  For online information go to www.pichafuneralhomes.com
